Animesh crowned schools chess champion

Animesh Patra of Delhi Public School, Kalinga, was crowned champion in the the 8th Schools Open Chess Tournament, which was organised by DAV Public School, Kalinga Nagar at the school complex here today. He logged 6.5 points out of a possible seven, winning six games and drawing one.

As many as 84 players from 16 schools participated in the day-long tournament. Jagadish Kumar Ghadai of the host school finished runner-up with six points. Deepanjali Sahoo, supervisor of the organising school, gave away the prizes. Debasis Panigrahi was the chief arbiter.
